For several decades the History Annex, located behind the Holden House Museum, has been the archive and repository of special collections, early maps, and displays featuring all points in Flagler County.
Following the passing of our senior historian Sisco Deen in August of 2023, the FCHS Board of Directors voted unanimously to rename the History Annex the Sisco Deen Research Library. The new name was approved by both the Deen Family and the County and now the facility honors the legacy of Sisco Deen’s history preservation and education efforts.
The Sisco Deen Research Library has clothing, furniture and other artifacts of early Flagler County families along with many fine collections including:
- Bound volumes Flagler Tribune 1918 – 1980
- Copies of Bunnell Home Builder 1912 – 1918
- Early St. Johns and Flagler maps
- Framed photographs of early years
- Inventories of cemeteries in Florida & Georgia
- Over 6,000 indexed obituaries published in local newspapers
- Individual files with information on Flagler places and organizations.
- Individual files of Flagler County families.
- Searchable family data base of 256,000+ names from Northern Florida and Georgia
- Annex files are available for history researchers including papers and documents collected by history society members.
